This role requires a minimum commitment of 2 days per week, from Monday – Friday between 9am – 4:30pm, for at least 12 months.

About us
Citizens Advice in North & West Kent (also known as CANWK), is the local Citizens Advice in Tunbridge Wells & District. We are an independent charity and affiliated with the Citizens Advice network across England and Wales.
We provide free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to help people overcome the problems they face. Our specialist advice areas include debt, employment, housing and immigration advice.
Complimentary to our core and specialist advice, we also provide additional support services to help people locally, such as through scams awareness, energy talks and advice, budgeting support and digital skills training.
Our services help people who live and work across North & West Kent. Our six offices are located in Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge & Malling, Sevenoaks, Swanley, Dartford and Gravesend.

Description
In 2022, we helped over 15,000 people gain access to key information and advice. In total, they received over £1,600,000 additional income as a result of our support.
To meet demand for our services, we are actively recruiting for multiple Volunteer Advisers to work from our Tunbridge Wells office (Monday to Friday) and Cranbrook outreach (Wednesdays only).
You will be providing free information and advice over the telephone and face to face to local people across North & West Kent.
Skills needed
You do not need any specific qualifications or experience to volunteer with us, but you will need to:
• be friendly and approachable
• be open minded and non-judgemental with a desire to learn and help others
• have excellent verbal and communication skills
• be a good listener
• have good digital skills (proven ability to e.g. use Microsoft applications – MS Word, email) for researching information and case recording
What we can give you in return
You will be part of a friendly team and will receive full training and ongoing support. You will gain new skills and build on valuable soft skills, such as communication and problem solving. You will have the opportunity to learn about a range of issues, such as benefits and debt.
This role will enable you to make a real positive difference in helping your local community to move forward with their lives.
