Local Upcycling Project

West Kent YMCA Furniture Stores have set up a new upcycling project as a social enterprise to support young people from the local area in developing new work skills.

The project takes pre-loved furniture and upcycles the pieces into something unique and special to sell to a new home.

The interns are mentored by experienced staff who tutor a range of skills including painting, upholstery, business and admin, marketing and customer service.

Not only is this a great opportunity to equip young people with new skills and empower them to build for their future but the enterprise also supports environmental aims by saving furniture, tools and paints from landfill.

There’s a wide range of different pieces available for sale so pop into the store on your next visit to Royal Victoria Place to find out more.
